We at Guldviva stand with one foot in the sea, the other on archipelago soil and with our face towards the blue summer sky. Our root reaches back to a more peaceful time, to childhood summers … Within every piece of Guldviva jewellery dwells that feeling, that peace.

OUR SUMMER FAVOURITES

This is a collection of the summer favourites of the Guldviva artisans. Pieces which symbolises the Ålandic summer for us. They carry the feeling of summer cottages, the lapping sound of water, feet on warm rock. They remind us of our roots.

Råbandsknop

My favourite piece of jewellery is RÅBANDSKNOP (“square knot”). I have had a connection to the sea since I was young and the square knot, in particular, is a symbol of security and strength for me. That I am sitting firmly anchored somewhere and am in a safe place. It speaks to me.

I have been wearing my FENA necklace around my neck every day for five years now. It reminds me of childhood summers, fishing with my family. Memories that I want to carry close to my heart.

As an immigrant Swede, all of Åland means summer to me! My in-laws’ cottage in Tengsöda is a very special place. Sitting on warm rocks, looking out at the sailboats from the distance, listening to the water and the sound of our children playing with wooden boats… When I wear my favorite piece of jewellery, SPANT, I even see a boat with a clear mast and it reminds me of this place, which I love.

Äppelblom

Lovely ÄPPELBLOM (“apple blossoms”) at a lovely place. Jan Karlsgården inSund is one of my favourite places on Åland. I like to come here on my motorcycle and just sit, rest and dream myself away among the small red houses. It is peaceful and beautiful and, at the same time, a tangible and impressive reminder of history.

Sandmussla anklet

SANDMUSSLA anklet (“sand mussel”) is a beautiful symbol for the purification of the sea. Every little mussel in the Baltic Sea filters hundreds of liters of water an hour and consumes substances like nitrogen and phosphorous, which otherwise fertilize algae. For me, this anklet symbolize my strong bond to the sea and my childhood beach in Eckerö. My brother and I played along the shores throughout our whole upbringing, and some day, I want my children to be able to do the same.

Keep the sea close to your heart

Guldviva celebrates out 30th anniversary with a collection of hand-made, shimmering mussels. Every piece in the collection contributes to the removal of 30 kilograms of algae from the Baltic Sea, in cooperation with the John Nurminen Foundation.

Blomman
Jewellery with timeless form

The five waves in our beloved BLOMMA (“flower”) create a shape which may always have existed. Children draw it, we trace it in the sand with a stick. The flower is a symbol for that which is simple and obvious – like life should be. Maybe that is why so many people love it.
